Compassionate Care

From genetic testing, to birthing, to post partum care, we offer comprehensive services for you and your baby.

Penn Medicine obstetrics is the #1 choice for families throughout Philadelphia and southeastern Pennsylvania. More families choose to deliver at our Philadelphia hospitals than any other hospital in the region.

Obstetrics Services at Penn Medicine: Why Choose Us?

Families who come to Penn for maternity and newborn care benefit from:

  • Exceptional childbirth expertise: Our doctors deliver more babies — close to 15,000 births every year – than other medical centers in the area. We have the expertise to manage routine pregnancies and childbirths, as well as complex, high-risk situations. Meet our obstetrics team.
  • Commitment to parents and babies: Penn hospitals are Magnet® recognized for excellence in nursing care. Pennsylvania Hospital and Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in New Jersey have earned the Perinatal Care Certification from the Joint Commission. Fewer than 60 hospitals nationwide have this certification. These distinctions recognize our commitment to providing exceptional care to mothers and babies.
  • Supportive maternity and childbirth options: You choose who you want to guide your family through pregnancy and childbirth. Pennsylvania Hospital is the only medical center in the area with 24/7 certified nurse midwifery services. Nurse midwives also provide care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). Our hospitals also welcome and work with doulas, trained professionals who support women through childbirth. .
