Achieve a Healthy Weight

Penn Medicine’s bariatric program offers comprehensive weight management services, which can include medication, guidance for lifestyle changes, and bariatric surgery. Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

Achieving a healthy weight is about being healthy, not just numbers on a scale. Losing weight can improve your quality of life, reverse diabetes, eliminate sleep apnea, help control high blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Under the leadership of Noel Williams, MD, FRCSI, our team of health professionals—experts in their respective fields of nursing, nutrition, psychology and surgery—will guide you along your entire weight loss journey. Our program is a leader in the field of bariatric surgery and handles many complex cases. The team works together to provide you with the highest quality of care, from your first visit through long-term follow-up care. We offer virtual telemedicine visits and in-person visits to best suit your needs and schedule.

Options and Types of Bariatric Surgery

Because every patient is unique, our program offers a full range of bariatric surgical options, ensuring that you receive the bariatric surgery that's right for you. All bariatric surgery procedures performed at Penn use a minimally invasive approach with either laparoscopy or robotic surgery. Both surgical approaches offer many benefits, including shorter recovery times and less post-operative pain. Learn more about each procedure we offer:

Non-Surgical Obesity Treatment

Our team offers comprehensive obesity treatment guidance to help patients find the best option for them. This can include managing GLP-1 weight loss medications as well as nutrition and lifestyle support.
