Proton Therapy for Brain Cancer | Martha's Story Brain Cancer

Meet Martha Downing and her husband Bill. One Tuesday, Martha woke up in the middle of the night with a tremendous headache and tremendous nausea. The next day she went to her local hospital in Delaware, where after performing an MRI, found bleeding on her brain. Realizing she needed acute care, they life-flighted her to Penn Medicine. Once here, our specialists diagnosed her with a malignant brain tumor. By combining treatments including proton therapy, we helped her beat cancer. Her husband of 45 years stayed by her side the entire time. Watch as they speak about their experience, proton therapy's lack of side effects, and the quality of time it afforded them together.
