The following tests and imaging studies may be ordered if your doctor believes you may have squamous cell carcinoma of the skin.
- Physical examination: Your doctor will discuss your health history and examine your skin to look for signs of squamous cell carcinoma.
- Biopsy: To confirm a squamous cell carcinoma skin diagnosis, a biopsy will be performed. During a biopsy, the doctor removes part or all of the suspicious area as well as some surrounding healthy tissue. The tissue will be tested in a lab and analyzed by a pathologist.
