David A. Asch, MD, MBA is the Senior Vice Dean for Strategic Initiatives in the Perelman School of Medicine. He is the John Morgan Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine and The Wharton School. He was Executive Director of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics from 1998-2012. He created, and from 2001 to 2012 directed, the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) in the Department of Veterans Affairs. He was Executive Director of the Center for Health Care Innovation from 2012-2022.

His research is in the area of behavioral economics and aims to understand and improve how physicians and patients make medical choices. He is the author of more than 450 published papers and has won numerous awards for training and research. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
