Penn Orthopaedics is pleased to announce that Casey Jo Humbyrd, MD, MBE will be assuming the role of Chief, Foot and Ankle Service, in January 2021.

Dr. Humbyrd is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her residency in orthopaedic surgery in the Johns Hopkins Health System, and a foot and ankle fellowship at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. She also holds a Master’s degree in bioethics from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She will serve as Director of Surgical Ethics and Health Policy at Penn Medicine.

Dr. Humbyrd’s research interests focus on ethical concerns related to surgery in general and orthopedic surgery in particular. Her clinical interests include ankle arthroscopy; complex reconstructions, including ankle replacement surgery; fracture care; fusion surgeries; and tendon surgeries.

A nationally-recognized leader in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Humbyrd treats foot and ankle injuries, including post-traumatic arthritis, complex sports injuries, deformities, traumatic and pathologic fractures, and arthritis.

Board certified in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Humbyrd will see patients at Penn Orthopaedics Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Musculoskeletal Center University City and Penn Orthopaedics Radnor.
