The Department of Neurosurgery at Penn Medicine welcomes its first new Chair in two decades with the arrival of Daniel Yosher, MD, formerly Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Yoshor will begin his new role at Penn Medicine on July 1, 2020.

A graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Yoshor completed his neurosurgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine before undertaking a clinical fellowship in brain tumor and epilepsy surgery and brain mapping at the University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Yoshor's clinical interests include brain mapping, endoscopic pituitary and skull base surgery, and surgery for brain tumors and epilepsy. As a clinical researcher, he is part of a large consortium developing a cortical visual prosthetic to restore vision to the blind.

Board certified in neurological surgery, Dr. Yoshor will also serve as Vice President of Clinical Integration and Innovation for the Health System.
