Penn Neurology welcomes Chafic Karam, MD.<

A graduate of St. Joseph University in Beruit, Lebanon, Dr. Karam completed internships at Hôtel Dieu de France in Lebanon and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, where he completed a neurology residency, as well. He then completed a clinical fellowship in neuromuscular medicine and EMG at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and a fellowship in peripheral nerve pathology at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Karam specializes in the treatment of neuropathy, and conducts EMGs. His clinical interests include neuropathy related to hematologic and rheumatologic disorders, specialized testing, including EMGs and autonomic testing, and nerve and muscle biopsies. He has a particular interest in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and other immune mediated neuropathies. Dr. Karam plans to open an autonomic lab to conduct specialized testing, as well as conduct nerve and muscle biopsies under local anesthesia in the future. In addition, Dr. Karam is currently conducting research on amyloid polyneuropathy.

Dr. Karam sees patients at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, and conducts EMG testing at Penn Medicine Radnor.
