Spine surgeon J. Rush Fisher, MD, has joined the renowned faculty of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Penn Medicine.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (now the Perelman School of Medicine), Dr. Fisher completed his internship and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in orthopaedic surgery research. This was followed by a fellowship in reconstructive spinal surgery with Henry H. Bohlman, MD, at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Fisher taught as an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the School of Medicine at the University of Kentucky, and he was chief of the spine section at Christiana Care in Newark, Delaware from 2007 to 2021.

Dr. Fisher’s clinical interests include adult spinal deformity and other complex spinal conditions. His specialties include minimally invasive reconstructive spinal surgery and artificial disc replacement surgery for motion preservation.

Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Fisher is a co-founder of the Christiana Spine Center in Newark, Delaware. He sees patients at the Penn Spine Center at Pennsylvania Hospital and Penn Medicine Bucks County.
