Defne Amado, MD, PhD, completed her entire medical education, including an MD, a PhD in neuroscience, and three medical and research fellowships within the University of Pennsylvania Healthcare System.
Dr. Amado specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neuropathy with a special focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She is currently conducting research focused on developing gene therapy-based approaches for ALS, frontotemporal dementia and related diseases.
Board certified in neurology, Dr. Amado sees ALS patients at the Comprehensive ALS Center at Pennsylvania Hospital and she sees patients with all other types of neuropathy at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
