Timothy Markman, MD, specializes in the treatment of abnormalities involving the cardiac electrical system, including slow and fast heart rhythms such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. He treats patients medically and performs procedures including ablations and device implantations.

A scientist at the Penn brainSTIM Center, Dr. Markman directs the laboratory for innovation in neuro-cardiology, a multidisciplinary program involved in translational and clinical research. His research is funded by the NIH and aims to develop innovative treatment strategies and novel medical devices to treat a range of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Markman graduated from Harvard University and received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and went on to complete fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Markman sees patients at the Penn Heart and Vascular Center at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
