A graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine, in Washington, DC, where she also completed an MPH in epidemiology, Dr. Catherine E. Lai completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois Medical System in Chicago. She subsequently finished a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Lai specializes in detecting, monitoring, and treating acute leukemias and myeloid malignancies in adults. Her current research focuses on novel therapeutics, designing and conducting clinical trials, and health outcomes for leukemia and myeloid malignancy patients.
At Penn Medicine, Dr. Lai will be the Physician Leader of the Leukemia Clinical Research Unit. Board certified in hematology, internal medicine, and medical oncology, she sees patients at the Abramson Cancer Center.
