Lorraine Boakye, MD, has joined Penn Orthopaedics as Director of Research in the Foot and Ankle Division. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Boakye completed her undergraduate education at Yale College. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she was the Administrative Chief Resident among numerous education and leadership roles. She then completed an orthopaedic foot and ankle fellowship at Harvard-Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Dr. Boakye specializes in foot and ankle surgery, treating all related conditions in adolescents and adult patients, including forefoot, hindfoot and ankle conditions ranging from simple hammertoe corrections to complex foot and ankle reconstructions. Her practice incorporates minimally invasive techniques, including arthroscopy, as well as open procedures. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Boakye serves as Director of Research for the Penn Orthopaedics Foot and Ankle Division.

Dr. Boakye sees patients at Pennsylvania Hospital and Penn Medicine Valley Forge.
