D. Frank Distel, MD, MBA, has joined the Penn Spine Center.

A graduate of Albany Medical College, Dr. Distel completed an internship in internal medicine at Albany Medical Center, followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Penn Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in spinal cord injury medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Distel also has an MBA in health administration from the University of Colorado.

In addition to the non-operative management of back and neck pain caused by spinal cord injury, Dr. Distel’s specialties include the treatment of other spinal cord conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, and transverse myelitis. He also cares for patients with complex neurorehabilitation needs such as cerebral palsy, AIDP/CIDP, and motor neuron diseases. In addition, he provides spasticity management using oral medications, chemodenervation with botulinum toxin and baclofen pumps.

Dr. Distel sees patients at Penn Medicine Rittenhouse, the Penn Spine Center Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Orthopaedics Pennsylvania Hospital, and Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
