Kendall Lawrence, MD, has joined the faculty of Penn Cardiac Surgery. Dr. Lawrence received her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She subsequently completed a general surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medicine, and a research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship and then an aortic surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
A prolific co-author, Dr. Lawrence has contributed to more than 30 articles spanning the fields of cardiovascular surgery, often as first author. Her research embraces quality of life after cardiac surgery, clinical outcomes in aortic surgery, and the application of contrast-enhanced ultrasound to monitor cerebral perfusion during surgery.
Dr. Lawrence’s clinical focus includes coronary artery disease, valvular disease, aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections with an expertise in endovascular and open cardiac surgery. She sees patients at the Penn Heart and Vascular Center of the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
