Dr. Jarrod D. Predina, MD, MTR is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School (now the Perelman School of Medicine), where he also completed a Masters in Translational Medicine, Dr. Predina completed both a general surgery residency (2020) and a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship (2022) at the Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Subsequently, he received training in the treatment of complex esophageal diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Predina is a general thoracic surgeon trained in advanced endoscopic, thoracoscopic, and robotic techniques to treat both oncologic and benign thoracic disorders. His clinical interests thus include surgical management of tumors of the lung, mediastinum, esophagus, trachea, pleura and chest wall, as well as treatment of patients with tracheal stenosis, thoracic outlet syndrome, hiatal hernia, pectus excavatum, hyperhidrosis and other benign conditions. He has received awards from Intuitive Surgical and the American Association for Thoracic Surgery for his accomplishments.
A clinical investigator, as well, Dr. Predina has an active laboratory focusing on (1) developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for thoracic malignancies and (2) studying benign tracheal diseases, including tracheal stenosis and tracheobronchomalacia. He has led multiple clinical trials in these areas. He has more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, including reports in Clinical Cancer Research, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Nature Medicine, and has received over $1,250,000 in research funding and multiple national and international awards for his contributions.
