Mauer Biscotti III, MD, has joined Penn Cardiac Surgery, where he was a fellow in cardiothoracic surgery and instructor in surgery in 2021-2023. A graduate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Biscotti completed an internship and residency in general surgery at Columbia University Medical Center / New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he subsequently completed a fellowship in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Prior to his experience at Penn Medicine, he served as an ECMO surgeon and ship surgeon in the United States Navy. Dr. Biscotti was most recently an Assistant in Clinical Surgery and postdoctoral Clinical Fellow at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Dr. Biscotti’s clinical interests include coronary artery bypass surgery, valve procedures, and heart failure surgery, as well as mechanical circulatory support, including ventricular assist device therapy. Additionally, he has a special interest in lung transplantation and has joined the Penn Lung Transplant Team.
Board certified in surgery, Dr. Biscotti sees patients at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
