Advancing Knowledge and Treatment Through Research
Research plays an important role in our program's ability to provide you with the best care and treatment for your condition. As an academic institution, our physicians conduct research to better understand the science behind allergic and immunologic conditions, as well as the clinical impact of these conditions. Our research also seeks to address how socioeconomic, demographic, and other social factors impact health care in the field.
Clearing the Way for Penicillin Use
Penn Medicine's Allergy and Immunology Program specialists are actively investigating the impact of antibiotic allergy in vulnerable patient populations, such as those with hematologic malignancy and pregnant women. We also conduct research on drug allergy evaluation in these populations.
A Better Understanding of Asthma
The Penn Asthma Center has a long record of performing research on asthma, as well as social determinants and disparities in asthma outcomes. Located in West Philadelphia, our clinical practice and research aim to conduct research that targets unique issues that impact patients in our region.
IDEA Clinical Trial for Asthma
In this research study, we want to learn if the study drug (Dupixent® Dupilumab) helps to control asthma. We are particularly interested in understanding if people who have a certain genetic make-up (genotype) will respond better to this treatment.
