Our Focus

The mission of the Penn Medicine Program for LGBTQ Health is to improve the care of LGBTQ populations by becoming a local and national leader in LGBTQ patient care, education, research, and advocacy.

To meet our mission, the program focuses on the following five areas:

  • Institutional Climate and Visibility - We support LGBTQ individuals in the workplace, classroom, and healthcare settings by promoting an LGBTQ-inclusive climate and culture.
  • Health Education - Our program promotes health education and provides mentorship and professional development for LGBTQ students, trainees and faculty.
  • Research - We aim to increase LGBTQ participation in Penn research initiatives and support new areas of research in LGBTQ health.
  • Patient Care - We continue to improve patient and family-centered care for LGBTQ individuals by connecting with caring, compassionate and skilled providers.
  • Community Outreach - We partner with other organizations to improve access and quality of care to meet the needs of the LGBTQ community.
