The Penn Nerve Center is dedicated to enhancing the understanding and treatment of nerve conditions through clinical research. This work is often performed in collaboration with colleagues across multiple specialty areas. Together, our efforts to answer some of the most pressing concerns in the field have led to advances in pre-operative treatment planning, post-operative recovery, and more.
Depending upon the nature of the nerve condition, patients of the Penn Nerve Center may have the opportunity to participate in a range of clinical trials. Some include:
- The use of imaging technology in nerve treatment
- Surgical approaches aimed at improving function and reducing pain after spinal cord injury or peripheral nerve injury
- The use of synthetic and human cadaver nerve substitutes for repairing injured nerves
- The use of peripheral nerve stimulation to improve recovery after nerve injury
- Optimal post-operative pain management strategies following nerve injury
