What are PAYAM’s hours of operation?
We understand you have a busy schedule and need flexible appointment times. Our providers are available:
- Monday to Thursday: 8 am to 8 pm
- Friday: 8 am to 5 pm (4 pm during summer)
- Saturday: 8 am to noon
- Sunday: Closed
What if I get sick at night or on the weekend?
There is always a PAYAM provider on call to assist you. Just call our office at 610-902-2450. You will hear a message that we are closed. Please stay on the line and you will be transferred to the operator who will connect you to the on-call provider. We ask that routine questions, refills of medications, etc., be routed to your My Penn Medicine portal or to call the office the next business day. The on-call provider is available to handle urgent concerns.
May I request a male or female provider?
We are happy to assist with this. Before making your appointment, look at our provider profiles and select the person you would feel most comfortable with. Then share this with our scheduling coordinator when you call. We will do our best to fit you in with the provider of your choice.
You can easily send confidential, non-urgent messages to any of your Penn Medicine providers using your MyChart by myPennMedicine account. If you're age 14 or older, you can have your own MyChart by myPennMedicine account. To register, visit myPennMedicine.org. You will need an activation code to complete your registration. This can be obtained from your provider or by completing this form.
You should bring your insurance card, medical records, and the completed patient record release and patient intake form. You can request the patient record release form and the patient intake form by calling 610-902-2450 or by emailing AdolescentMedAdmin@pennmedicine.upenn.edu. Forms can be faxed to our Radnor office at 610-902-2466.
Will my parents/guardians be in the room with me?
This is entirely up to you. Some of our patients are comfortable having their parents/guardians with them for their visit. Others prefer to speak privately with their provider. As an adolescent or young adult, you have a voice in your healthcare experience.
Do I need to get undressed for my appointment?
You will stay in your clothes for the first part of your appointment, during which we discuss your medical history. Then, depending upon the nature of your concern, you may be asked to put on a gown for a physical exam.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
You will begin your appointment having a one-on-one conversation with your provider. Our conversation will be respectful and confidential. During this time you will get to know us and ask questions or share concerns. Parents may be invited back to the exam room during the appointment.
What can I do with a MyChart by myPennMedicine account?
Through your MyChart by myPennMedicine account you can check on test results, schedule or view upcoming appointments, request medication refills, referrals or pre-certifications, and message your provider.
