Before surgery, use the CHG wash that was provided to you in the clinic, as instructed by your provider. After surgery, you should wash your surgical incision with soap and water every single day. Let it air dry.
Things to keep in mind:
- Be sure to wash your hands prior to caring for your incision
- Do not apply any ointments, lotions, salves to the incision
- Do not immerse your incision in baths, hot tubs, etc
- Always keep your incision dry
- Do not scratch or rub your incision
- Check for any signs or symptoms of surgical site infection daily. Call your provider immediately, if you see any
