The following positions are available to qualified candidates who are looking for opportunities to volunteer at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Epidemiology Auditor
Description: Help record compliance to hand hygiene practices to help keep patients, visitors and staff safe. Observe activity on patient care units and use an iPad. Work directly with the Infection Prevention Department. Orientations held monthly.
Commitment: Shifts are available Monday to Friday in two hour increments, 8 am to 4 pm. Minimum three month commitment of at least two shifts per month.
Oncology Comfort Cart
Description: Support patients and their families during their stay in the oncology units by providing companionship, listening, and diversion activities. Must have great communication skills and be comfortable interacting with patients and their families.
Commitment: One two hour shift per week, Monday to Friday.
Family Caregiver Center Volunteer
Description: Create a gracious space by understanding the unique needs of each person entering the Center. Offer emotional support and active listening without judgment or bias. Assist caregivers as needed with internet searches, resource identification, escort to hospital locations, etc.
Commitment: One scheduled four hour shift per week, Monday to Friday
Patient & Family Adviser
Description: Promote patient and family centered care through participation in quality improvement initiatives. Act as the voice of the patient and caregiver when evaluating hospital programs. Share patient or caregiver experiences at HUP as a means to provide insight and guidance to hospital projects. Must have experience as a patient or a family caregiver to a patient who has been treated at HUP.
Commitment: Attend meetings the first Wednesday evening of the month and ad hoc committee work as available
HUP's Pups
Description: Bring your certified therapy dog to visit with patients and staff. These four legged friends brighten the day and lift the spirits of all they encounter. Must have your own dog to volunteer.
Commitment: One shift per month
Welcome Desk Support
Description: Warmly greet patients and families entering the hospital.
Escort visitors to their destination within the hospital as necessary. Deliver flowers, food gifts left at the front desk for patients. Support the Hospital Ambassadors at the Welcome Desk as needed. We are looking for outgoing volunteers comfortable in a busy, fast-paced environment with a strong sense of customer service. This position requires high mobility and the ability to stand or walk for much of the shift.
Commitment: One shift per week for six months. Choose from either 10am to 2pm shift or 2pm to 6pm shift.
Food Pantry (HUP Cedar)
Description: Help organize and stock the food pantry serving patients and visitors at the HUP location at 54th St. & Cedar St. Volunteers will be active throughout their shift bagging groceries, stocking shelves, and carrying boxes.
Commitment: One shift per month on Wednesdays, mornings preferred, but open to discussing additional shifts Monday-to-Friday during regular business hours.
