Awards and Accolades Received in 2014

Becker's Hospital Review has named "100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know" based on the selected leaders' abilities to leverage existing and new technology to further the mission of their organizations while elevating the level of patient care.

These CIOs have spent their careers seeing the opportunity in challenges and innovating new solutions in a constantly changing field, making themselves invaluable figures in their hospital or health systems' executive teams. Penn Medicine's CIO, Mike Restuccia was honored with this recognition.

Penn Medicine is recognized for leadership by Fierce Innovation Awards: Healthcare Edition, a unique awards program from the publishers of FierceHealthIT, FierceHealthcare, and FierceMobileHealthcare.

Penn Medicine received top honors in Clinical Information Management category. Judges evaluated submissions based on the following criteria: quality of care and patient outcomes, care efficiency, financial impact, market validation, and overall Fierceness and Innovation. Penn Medicine is being recognized for its innovative, industry-leading product, mobile EMR patient dashboard.

Penn Medicine achieves honors for the Second Annual Health Information Exchange Champion Awards (2014).

At its November 10, 2014 HIE summit, HealthShare Exchange presented its HIE Champions Award for the second year to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional effort in advancing health information exchange in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

In 2014, Penn Medicine was named one of the nation's 100 "Most Wired" hospitals and health care systems by Hospitals & Health Networks, the Journal of the American Hospital Association. The award is based on an annual survey that polls the nation's health care systems on their use of Internet technologies to connect with patients, physicians and nurses, payors, health plans and employees.

Penn Medicine places in the elite 100 for "PennOmics", an integrated research and clinical-data warehouse that supports the goals of precision medicine, which uses an individual's genetic profile, diagnostic test results, and medical history to help doctors select the most suitable treatments for meeting the patient's exact needs.
