Awards and Accolades Received in 2022

Every year for the past ten years, Penn Medicine has been named the CHIME (College of Healthcare Information Management Executive) Healthcare’s Most Wired List for its use of information technology in supporting care delivery. In addition to making a Most Wired list for a decade now, this year’s achievement is the 18th time overall that Penn Medicine has achieved “Most Wired” status on the list recognizing hospitals and health systems for their technological process. Penn Medicine is a recipient of the 2022 CIO 100 Award for its initiative that sought to accelerate research by rapidly expanding the Penn Medicine BioBank (PMBB) through the integration of clinical and research IT systems. By using a data-driven approach to unlock new pathways, Penn Medicine is decoding information from patients’ own DNA to deliver personalized care. The PMBB expansion has the potential to make Penn Medicine one of the largest single-institution biorepositories, which is enabled by information systems. Read More

Penn Medicine Information Services has been recognized among the recipients of the University of Pennsylvania Commitment to Excellence Award (2020-2022) for their contributions to Penn Cares – a University project which helped in keeping the campus safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dozens of team members contributed to Penn Cares through their work on the Project Quaker and PennOpen Pass initiatives.
