Penn Medicine Princeton Health honored its employees, medical staff members, and volunteers who are veterans during a Veterans Day celebration held November 10 outside Princeton Medical Center (PMC).
CEO James Demetriades thanked veterans for their service and the sacrifices that they and their loved ones made. Princeton Health is fortunate to have many employees, medical staff members, and volunteers who are veterans, he said.
“It is no surprise that many veterans are drawn to careers in healthcare,” Demetriades said. “Great healthcare organizations, like military units, are built on teamwork, pursuit of excellence, and a commitment to serving others. Veterans are a perfect fit for that assignment.”
Retired police chief and bugler Tim Griffin opened the ceremony by playing the national anthem and closed it with a rendition of “God Bless America.”
A wreath was placed at the foot of PMC’s flagpole to honor veterans who are no longer with us. Demetriades also thanked children and teachers at nearby Discovery Years Learning Center for sending handmade thank-you cards to Princeton Health to share with veterans.
