HUPS

There hasn’t been a lot of fanfare but, little by little, even as the Pavilion (HUP East) is being built across the street, HUP West is being spruced up! And the projects go way beyond painting. For example, for the last several months, Physical Plant has tackled public bathrooms. The men’s and women’s restrooms on Ground Ravdin, off of the main lobby, underwent major renovations. With fixtures and tiling dating back to the 1970s — and often the site of drainage issues — “we took them both back to the infrastructure — even beyond the studs!” said Frank Connelly, assistant executive hospital director. Today, the new look and feel comes courtesy of brand new everything!

Physical Plant also tackled the men’s and women’s bathrooms on first floor Gates … and performed a little construction magic, turning these two bathrooms into three! There are now two gender-neutral bathrooms and a second private patient-family bathroom that includes a shower and toilet. (The other patient-family bathroom is on ground Gates).

Connelly said that these changes and many others have taken place — and will continue to do so — throughout the hospital, assuring that HUP remains a warm and welcoming environment for all who enter.
