Nurse Amber Roseman (standing fourth from left) volunteered at Chosen 300 Ministries with colleagues and others from Penn.

Amber N. Roseman, MSN, RN-BC, a clinical nurse in the Founders 12 Advanced Medicine unit, and colleagues recently spent an evening at Chosen 300 Ministries in West Philadelphia as part of their commitment to volunteer throughout the year. They asked COVID-19 screening questions, did temperature checks, served a full-course dinner, prepared to-go meals, and cleaned up at the end of the evening.

“We really enjoyed every aspect of our experience,” Roseman said. “The smallest gestures have the greatest impact. It can be a smile, compliment, encouraging word, hug, or just taking the time to show another person you care. We want to extend our love and compassion for people beyond the acute care setting and are looking forward to returning to Chosen 300.”

This volunteer opportunity is available the first Monday of each month, as listed in the Community Events Calendar. If you are interested in receiving a monthly email listing volunteer opportunities, please email CAREs@pennmedicine.upenn.edu.
