The following message was sent by a patient’s daughter to the Penn Medicine Facebook account. It has been edited for clarity and length.
“I hope you can pass along this compliment to Arshad Wani, MD, in Pulmonology. Dr. Wani is one of the most incredible humans you will ever meet. On top of that, he is one of the best, most caring, and most genuine physicians you will ever encounter. I don’t even remember how we found Dr. Wani, but I am so happy that we did. He has overseen my dad’s care for a couple of years now, and he constantly takes the utmost care to look after my dad and make sure he’s in the best possible hands. He has even shed tears and shared hugs with us (pre-pandemic) as we’ve navigated my dad’s health care.
Just this past March, my dad ended up in his local hospital after my mom called 911. Dr. Wani was with us every step of the way, and he ultimately got my dad transferred to Penn, where we always feel safest and most at home. This was at the height of the pandemic, and Dr. Wani was one of the doctors leading the charge against COVID-19. Had it not been for his loyalty and commitment to his patients, I cannot imagine what would have happened to my dad.
Dr. Wani, you may not realize it, but you’re a hero. Thank you for all you so selflessly do on behalf of my dad and our family. We love you and trust you implicitly, and we are so thankful to have you as one of our amazing Penn doctors.”
