In the months leading up to the holiday season, PPMC employees demonstrated their spirit of giving by organizing and donating generously to food and clothing drives.

APP Food Drive

During APP Week, from September 26–30, PPMC’s advanced practice providers conducted their annual pre-holiday food drive, placing collection boxes in Cupp 4 East, the Cupp Lobby, and the cafeteria. Employees filled more than a dozen boxes with canned goods, rice, beans, and a variety of other non-perishable food items, to ensure local families have enough to eat during the holiday season. Cheryl Scholler, CRNPt, a trauma nurse practitioner, helped deliver the donated items to the Helen Brown Community Center, a nonprofit organization that offers food pantries throughout the year. “What inspires me to participate in the food drives is helping those who suffer from food insecurity,” said Scholler, pictured here with Priscilla “Ms. Tee” Brown (holding bag) of the Helen Brown Community Center.

Socktober

October became “Socktober” when Joshua Wenger, senior director of Food and Nutrition, and the Morrison Heathcare team at PPMC placed boxes in the cafeteria for donations of new socks. By the end of the month, more than 150 pairs were collected and donated to a local Salvation Army homeless shelter. “Shelters across the nation go through socks quickly, making them one of the most sought-after items by men, women, and children who utilize their facilities. We are beyond proud of everyone who came together and donated to support the communities we serve,” said Kejda Oreshkovic, patient experience manager with Food and Nutrition.
