The hospital held an ice cream social to thank the staff whose work made PPMC a 100 Top Hospitals award winner.
Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) in July was named to the 2022 Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals list for the fourth year running, and this year ranked #1 in the Major Teaching Hospital category.
“The Top 100 Hospital award is an affirmation of the focus our clinical teams have on quality outcomes and the positive experience a patient has at our medical center,” said PPMC CEO Michele Volpe. “Our providers work as a team to achieve these outcomes and are the reason why, I believe, Penn Presbyterian has been recognized.”
Merative (formerly IBM Watson Health), a data, analytics, and technology partner for the health industry, selected the top hospitals from a study of 2,650 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S. The annual list recognizes excellence in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial health. Organizations’ commitments to community health as well as equity of care are also considered. The annual list was published by Fortune.
“PPMC’s commitment to our community remains steadfast and an integral part of our mission,” said Jennifer Braun, MHA, BSN, Presby’s director of Quality and Patient Safety.
CEO Michele Volpe, Associate Executive Director Bob Russell, and Nurse Manager Julie Seman were among the leaders who helped serve ice cream.
Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH) also made the 100 Top Hospitals list. In addition to that distinction, both hospitals were among 25 Everest Award winners, a special group recognized for the fastest improvement from 2016 to 2020 on key performance measures.
