The Center for Global Health invited four medical students from the University of Botswana, all with the highest GPA in their class, for a month-long clerkship. Thlompho Bareetsi, Gaone Madingwane, Kesegofetse Keetile, and Otsile Ditshwenyego all completed a four-week clinical rotation, each student being paired with a different Penn Medicine specialty. During the clerkship, students had hands-on experience — for example, Bareetsi studied adult reconstructive surgery, participated in rounding and in-patient care, and even assisted in surgery.

The Center for Global Health has been hosting University of Botswana medical students for these rotations since 2014. The Certificates of Training each student receives after completion of the course, often become part of their professional portfolios.
