Close to two years after it opened for business, Penn Medicine Radnor finally held a kickoff celebration for its new, state-of-the-art facility. With COVID-19 limiting the ability to congregate in large groups, the multispecialty facility had to wait until June 3, 2022 to give staff an official kickoff barbecue and ribbon-cutting. Luckily, the late-spring weather was sunny and warm, perfect for gathering outdoors with colleagues. More than 150 employees enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, and grilled chicken; in addition, Good Shepherd Penn Partners treated everyone to ice cream. The event also celebrated Cancer Survivorship Month with t-shirt giveaways.

According to Associate Executive Director Tracey Commack, MBA, the gathering provided an opportunity not only to celebrate the hard work that went into opening the center, but also to give staff a much-needed chance to take a break with co-workers. “We are always on the front lines and we don’t get to close early, or stop caring,” she says. “This is a moment for us to pat each other on the back and remember why we got into health care to begin with, that purpose we felt when we started.”
