The 2018 LG Health United Way campaign took place Sept. 10 to Oct. 12. Together, employees exceeded the goal by donating $204,435. LG Health matched 50 percent of all employee donations with a $102,217-corporate contribution to United Way of Lancaster County.

Throughout the 2018 campaign, four LG Health employees shared why they support United Way by Living United, whether it is through spending time with their children or friends volunteering during Day of Caring, or making a monetary contribution during the campaign.

United Way helps more than 105 local not-for-profit organizations to combat poverty, close gaps in medical coverage, and assist with kindergarten preparedness and career readiness. By 2025, United Way hopes to achieve the following bold goals:

  1. 100 percent of children will enter kindergarten ready to learn.
  2. 100 percent of students and adults will have post-secondary credentials.
  3. Decrease individuals and families living in poverty by 50 percent.
  4. 100 percent of individuals, children and families will have a medical home.

“United Way’s four bold goals align with LG Health’s mission to advance the health and well-being of our community,” said Susan Wynne, senior vice president, business, development and planning, who serves on the United Way Board of Directors. “The bold goals are directly related and have a meaningful impact on the social determinants of patient health,” she added.

By working simultaneously on these four bold goals, United Way hopes to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in Lancaster County.

“Thank you for making a long-term investment in the health and strength of our community. Together, our gifts to United Way will make a tangible impact on the lives of our friends, family, colleagues and neighbors” said, Jan Bergen, president & CEO, in a message of appreciation to LG Health staff.
