Blood cells, and platelets, and plasma, oh my! Every two seconds, someone in the United States requires blood, whether due to a traumatic injury, a surgery, or an illness that impacts healthy blood counts. Unfortunately, the “magic” of the holiday season doesn’t alleviate this need, and between shopping, get-togethers, and winter weather, even the most loyal donors often miss out on donation opportunities. This year, give a gift that can save as many as three lives and that costs you nothing but an hour of your time (or less if you complete a RapidPass ahead of time!) and a pint of blood.
On Friday, January 5, PAH will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on the second floor of the Pine Building between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Appointments are preferred. To make your appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org, and enter the sponsor code “PA Hospital” in the “Find a Blood Drive” search bar. You can also save up to 15 minutes by checking out RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass.
Receive a free long-sleeve American Red Cross t-shirt when you come to donate! Contact Marcia Marchese, supervisor of the Blood Bank, with any questions at marchesm@pahosp.com.
