PAH’s Care for the Care Provider (C4CP) Committee recognizes the dynamic stressors associated with working in a health care setting. Since the committee’s inception, the C4CP team has been dedicated to providing compassionate support to staff, promoting emotional well-being, and encouraging a culture that focuses on empathy, resilience, and a fulfilling work-life balance.
Driven by this mission, the C4CP Committee is excited to announce that they will soon be launching a formal peer support program that will be available to all PAH staff members. The goal of the Pennsylvania Hospital Care for the Care Provider Peer Supporter Program is to reduce any suffering or isolation that a staff member may feel after an adverse event or difficult experience in the workplace.
Over 50 participants from departments across the hospital have attended training focused on active listening and best practices to support colleagues in distress. With all the the tools necessary to offer help, our “Peer Supporters” are ready to provide one-on-one assistance to their colleagues after an intense hospital event that upsets or distracts them, or causes them to question their abilities. Each Peer Supporter aims to facilitate open and honest communication by listening, normalizing feelings, discussing additional resources, and connecting peers to those resources if needed.
If you need support, want to learn more about the C4CP Committee or Peer Supporter Program, or want to access to additional self-care resources, please visit the newly designed C4CP website.
