Spring often feels like a season of new beginnings, and at Pennsylvania Hospital, we are experiencing new beginnings as well. We will be welcoming two new chairs in the coming months, after an extensive search by our dedicated search committee.
Abigail Wolf, MD, will serve as chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is returning to PAH, where she completed her OB/GYN residency. She will be overseeing the development and maintenance of the department’s clinical programs, and its education and research sectors. Throughout her career, Wolf has been the recipient of several awards, such as the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Excellence in Teaching Award and the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. In addition, she has a passion for women’s health advocacy and will lead efforts to address health disparities in underserved populations.
Similarly, our new chair of Emergency Medicine, Jenice Baker, MD, FACEP, is a passionate advocate for healthcare equity, particularly regarding racial healthcare disparities. She serves as the president of the New Jersey chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, in which she has been awarded grants to increase women leadership in emergency medicine and promote development of safer emergency department practices. Baker has also emphasized a commitment to creating inclusive work environments in her previous roles at other local institutions. She looks forward to promoting interdepartmental collaboration and engagement with her new team to carry on this commitment.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Wolf and Dr. Baker to our PAH team. I am confident in their abilities and expertise to help our hospital grow and continue PAH’s legacy of clinical excellence.
