Statement Regarding Outpatient Surgery Magazine Article

The Health System was shocked to read the article written by one of our surgeons, Dr. John Kelly IV, and wants  to make it clear that his misguided attempt at humor, while done on his own time, does not in any way reflect our views or values. Dr. Kelly is a respected orthopaedic surgeon who has pursued stand-up comedy as a hobby for many years. Since his humor column ran last August in a small physician practice management publication, Dr. Kelly  has personally, and publicly through the publication, apologized to all who have contacted him not only for his serious lack of judgment but also for the unintended consequences his “one liners” have caused. Further, Dr. Kelly has met with our clinical leadership who have counseled him regarding his actions and reiterated to him our institution’s commitment to treating patients and individuals with the dignity and respect they deserve.
