The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency awarded over $5 million in grants to three community violence prevention and intervention programs across Penn Medicine.

To increase community-based nature initiatives and improve health in Black and brown Philadelphia neighborhoods, Penn Medicine and CHOP’s Deeply Rooted Collaborative launched a Community Green Grants program to fund 22 local nature-focused projects.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced a multi-year partnership with Penn Medicine, the area’s leading healthcare provider. This unique partnership designates Penn Medicine as the official healthcare, orthopaedic, and hospital partner of the team.

Philanthropists Josh Harris, managing partner of the Philadelphia 76ers, and his wife, Marjorie Harris, plan to invest $1 million in companies funded by the Penn Medicine – Wharton Fund for Health, a collaboration between Penn Medicine and the Wharton Social Impact Initiative of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School that invests in early-stage businesses working to improve the social determinants of health of economically disadvantaged Philadelphians.

The Penn Urban Health Lab, along with 13 community organizations, will launch Deeply Rooted, a community-driven program to promote health equity and environmental justice in Black and brown neighborhoods in West and Southwest Philadelphia.

Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), a nonprofit public health institute that creates and sustains healthier communities, has opened the PHMC Health Center on Cedar, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) located inside the PHMC Public Health Campus on Cedar at 54th Street and Cedar Avenue in West Philadelphia.

This week, Penn Medicine unveiled a new digital art collaboration with five local and national artists—from Philadelphia to Los Angeles—that paints a picture of support and gratitude from the community for healthcare workers and their incredible dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.
