PHILADELPHIA – On Friday, March 16, 151 medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania will celebrate Match Day. During the annual, nationwide ceremony, students find out, one by one, where they are headed for their residency training for the next three or more years of their medical careers.

Seven researchers have been named to the third cohort of the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania. The two-year training program, which emphasizes team-based health care, provides clinical and community-based research training through a formal curriculum and mentoring to nurse and physician researchers.

Forty-nine percent of hospice patients have a diagnosis of cancer, whereas only 11 percent have a primary diagnosis of heart failure.
