Description of Research Expertise
My prior research has focused on understanding how non-clinical social determinants of health as well as organizational and policy variations impact utilization and outcomes in respiratory diseases. My masters in clinical epidemiology thesis examined the impact of insurance status on ICU utilization and outcomes using Pennsylvania hospital discharge data. This project found a decreased utilization and increased 30-day mortality for uninsured critically ill patients. I expanded on this research with an F32 NIH grant to study how MA insurance reform impacted critical care utilization and outcomes.
