The season of reflection and gratitude is upon us. While challenging, these last few months have also helped illuminate kindness, generosity, and the importance of keeping connected and engaged.
We hope you will participate and spread the word about the following virtual events hosted by our amazingly creative and persevering partners. After all, fighting cancer cannot wait — and our friends and communities are ready, as always, to take up the charge!
Virtual Purplestride Philadelphia 2020
Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020
PanCan Purple Stride Website
Join Penn's virtual team (PanCAN) to honor loved ones fighting pancreatic cancer. PanCAN's PurpleStride funds life-changing programs and services for pancreatic cancer patients, including important research at Penn's Pancreatic Cancer Research Center. Your participation and fundraising make it all possible.
Though in-person PurpleStride events are temporarily on pause due to COVID-19, pancreatic cancer does not stop, and neither do we. Join from wherever you are and help PanCAN reach their $10M goal. Register (it's free!), build your team, and start fundraising today.
Pancreatic cancer affects thousands of patients and their families every day, and we need to continue to fight for them. Thank you for rallying behind our community, as the need has never been greater – nor the science more promising.
Virtual Run for the Stripes 5K
Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020
Run for the Stripes Website
Please join us for the 9th Annual Run for the Stripes event, now in a virtual format. What is a virtual race? You pick your location, distance, pace, and time — it's that easy!
Help us raise awareness and funds for research for neuroendocrine (NETS) cancers, which are rare and hard to diagnose. Proceeds benefit research, including work at Penn, to find better treatment options and — we hope — a cure.
2020 Tri-State Virtual Forum

Fight Cancer Website - Events Page
A substantial proportion of cancers could be prevented. According to a recent study by American Cancer Society researchers, at least 42 percent of newly diagnosed cancers in the US — about 750,000 cases in 2020 — may be avoidable. For nearly three decades, the cancer death rate in the United States has steadily decreased, but not all individuals have equally benefited from advances in cancer prevention and early detection.
Join the American Cancer Society on Nov. 10 from 9 – 10 a.m. for a forum discussion on how we can stop cancer.
Party in Your PJ's in honor of the 20th Anniversary of the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation
Saturday, December 5, 2020
Twenty years ago, the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation was started by Adriana Way and Robin Cohen while they were sitting on a living room floor. They wanted to honor their sister and beloved friend Sandy. Since then, the Foundation has had an incredible impact. Please wear your pajamas (in teal, if possible!) to join us for a look back at two decades of progress from the comfort of your living room.
This year's event honors ovarian cancer survivor Kelly Collevechio with the Spirit of Survivorship Award and Ashley Haggerty, MD with the Teal Trailblazer Award.
Although this event is free, donations are appreciated and can be made on the registration form. See you at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5!
