Penn Neuro-Oncology Symposium: Master Class in Brain Tumor Treatment

Do you treat patients with brain tumors? 

On Friday, June 8, the Penn Brain Tumor Center and Abramson Cancer Center will present a Neuro-Oncology Symposium at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

The one day master class, Brain Tumors 2018: Master Class in Brain Tumor Treatment – Best Practices, is designed for health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with brain tumors for CME and CNE credit. 

The class will feature presentations from renowned experts across the field, including guest speakers Drs. Aaron Cohen-Gadol and Roger Stupp, and University of Pennsylvania Medical Ethics and Health Policy Chair Dr. Ezekiel J. Emmanuel, in addition to a panel of leading neurosurgeons, neurologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and geneticists from Penn Medicine.

All pre-registered attendees will receive a copy Prescription for the Future: The Twelve Transformational Practices of Highly Effective Medical Organizations by Ezekiel Emanuel. Additionally, all physicians, residents, fellows and nurses will receive a copy of Glioblastoma 1E by Dr. Steven Brem.

Sessions

The symposium sessions will be devoted to fiber tracking (DTI), awake craniotomy, brain mapping, laser thermocoagulation and fluorescence IGS (image-guided surgery), as well as other advances in the surgical treatment of brain tumors. Sessions will also cover advances in immunotherapy; electric field therapy; viral and anti-angiogenic therapies for malignant brain tumors; radiation therapy; and cutting-edge topics in precision medicine, including comprising genetic, translational and clinical research.
