Clinicians and researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine and the Abramson Cancer Center are often called upon to lead or participate as experts in CME and institutional meetings at home and abroad. The Fall season of CMEs, meetings and webinars begins in September, when Penn faculty present a unique and far-ranging roster of events.
Penn International Rhinology and Skull Base Course | September 6-9, 2022
This comprehensive three-day CME program in Rhinology and Skull Base surgery features national and international faculty offering their insight on advanced endoscopic procedures as well as medical and surgical focus on the frontal sinus, emerging technologies and endoscopic skull base surgery. The Penn International Head & Neck Cancer TORS & Reconstruction Symposium | September 8-9, 2022
This Symposium offers an update on the evolving management of cancers of the oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx, thyroid, neck, and skin. The inventive approaches practiced at Penn Medicine in TransOral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for the management of oropharyngeal cancer will be a particular focus. Penn International Rhinoplasty Course | September 9-10, 2022
For practicing general otorhinolaryngologists, nursing staff, scientists and residents interested in rhinology and rhinoplasty, this course will cover advanced nasal anatomy; functional and aesthetic nasal surgery; nasal valve surgical techniques; treatment of surgical failures; and tips for rhinoplasty and other facial plastic procedures, among much else. The 5th North American Aortic Valve Repair Symposium (AVRS) | Friday, September 9-10, 2022
A two-day meeting designed to enhance learners' understanding of aortic valve repair. An international panel of experts will describe repair techniques, highlight outcomes, and identify areas for improvement. The program includes videos of surgical procedures, presentation of clinical data and outcomes, panel discussion with experts in the field, as well as hands-on and interactive sessions. The Mark E. Josephson Twenty-Ninth Annual State-of-the-Art Arrhythmia Symposium | September 10, 2022, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Using a combination of case presentations with audience participation, didactic presentations, and question and answer sessions, the Symposium goal is to educate participants in state of the art information on invasive and non-invasive electrophysiologic and electrocardiographic tools in the current diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders. Virtual Meeting: 2022 Penn Kidney Transplant Symposium September 13, 2022 8:30 AM - 3:45 PM EST
This symposium's agenda features an overarching review of kidney transplantation in its key facets, from the deeply personal aspects of living kidney donor transplant recipient communications and patient testimonials to practical considerations of surgery, post-transplant medication, and critical vaccinations in the COVID era. Attendees will achieve competence in determining the indications for kidney transplantation, improving coordination of care to improve outcomes for patients following their kidney transplantation, and enhancing patient and family education related to understanding the risks and benefits of kidney transplantation. The NIH 2022 Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Conference: Discovery to Mainstream Oncology | September 15-16, 2022
A conference for scientists world-wide from the National Institutes of Health, this meeting provides a venue for the exchange of the latest information on the immunotherapy of cancer. Featured speakers from the Abramson Cancer Center include Dr. Carl June providing an update on CAR T cells, and Robert H. Living Donor Liver Transplantation | September 21, 2022 06:00-7:30 PM
Presented by the Penn Transplant Institute, this symposium examines the benefits of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) given the continuing shortage of deceased donor livers and the critical need to identify appropriate recipients and candidates for LDLT. Features a review of the referral process for LDLT recipients, the donor selection and evaluation process, and an in-depth discussion of the short and long term outcomes for LDLT donors and recipients. Sarcoma Management | Case-Based Discussion | Wednesday, October 19, 2022 / 7am (ET)
A case-based discussion led by Abramson Cancer Center sarcoma experts from orthopaedic oncology, neurosurgery, medical oncology, and radiation oncology. The course will feature potential treatment options, including clinical trials, discuss considerations from each discipline, and offer an inside view into the conversations that take place during the sarcoma team's multidisciplinary tumor board meetings. Precision Surgery Intraoperative Molecular Imaging (PSIMI) 3rd Clinical Trials Update – In person and Virtual CME Conference - Friday, November 11, 2022
