Pride flagEveryone deserves to feel valued, to have their voices heard, and to be treated with respect and care in all aspects of their health. We here at the division of Endocrinology & Diabetes, and all of those who provide care within the PENN Medicine Community, strive to make healthcare equitable and accessible to all our patients, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. Our division has created a strategic plan for enhancing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion which aims to eradicate the barriers that members of the LGBTQ+ community encounter in receiving medical care such as:

  1. Refusal of care based on sexual preference and/or sexual orientation
  2. Lack of experience of providers in treating those in the LGBTQ+ community
  3. Lack of trust & feeling(s) of mistreatment between providers & those in the LGBTQ+ community
  4. Insurance discrimination and/or lack of access to affordable Insurance

As a message to all our patients, especially those within the LGBTQ+ community, know that here at PENN Medicine we will never discriminate based on sexual orientation, sexual preference, or sexual identity. As a patient of PENN Medicine, you are regarded with acceptance and appreciation, and we welcome you!
