Joseph Ladines-Lim was born in Baltimore, MD and obtained his undergraduate degrees at the University of Maryland, his ScD in Chemical Engineering at MIT, and his MD at Yale School of Medicine. He also worked for the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Cape Town for a year. During medical school, he took part in projects on Zika exposure and neurodevelopmental sequela in infants in Salvador, Brazil and uptake of tuberculosis preventative therapy in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He completed a combined Medicine-Pediatrics residency at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan), where he spearheaded projects on antimicrobial stewardship in immigrant and refugee populations in Southeast Michigan, use of ICD-10 codes to estimate rates of inappropriate antibiotic prescribing in large datasets, and firearm safety screening and counseling in primary care. He is now a first-year Infectious Disease fellow at Penn Medicine.
