Kelly is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Emory University undergrad where she majored in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. While there, she also worked as a research assistant on a project looking at how to link and retain people living with HIV and substance use to care that ultimately led to her deciding to apply to medical school with the goal of pursuing infectious diseases as a career. She attended Emory medical school and stayed for residency while her partner was finishing a PhD in mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech. There she continued her work in HIV and was involved in several projects including ones looking at neighborhood specific barriers to HIV care, PrEP implementation in Atlanta and, most recently, out of care patient preference for different community based HIV care models. She also completed an HIV distinction focused on HIV primary care. In her free time she likes to read fiction, attempt various Instapot recipes and take her dog to the dog park.
