The Division of Renal Electrolyte and Hypertension at the University of Pennsylvania offers combined nephrology training in both Glomerular Diseases and Onconephrology. This training provides an intellectually challenging environment and the experience and mentorship needed to excel in these subspecialties.
Program Structure and Curriculum
This one-year advanced fellowship training will focus on:
- Management of patients with Glomerular Diseases (inpatient consults, outpatient referrals, second opinions, etc.)
- Management of patients with paraprotein-related kidney diseases ( monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance)
- Management of patients with renal adverse effects related to cancer therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, bone marrow transplantation, etc.)
- Management of renal paraneoplastic syndromes (electrolytes imbalances, glomerular diseases, etc.)
- Management of cancer-related CKD (post-BMT, urology malignancies)
- Training in clinic trials (NIH-funded, investigator-initiated and industry-sponsors)
Additional training includes:
- Performing kidney biopsies (native and transplant)
- Renal pathology review with the PENN Nephropathologist team
- Pediatric-adult Glomerular Transition Clinic (CHOP-HUP)
- Clinical research in the area of onconephrology.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold either an MD/DO degree or foreign equivalent along with a valid certificate from Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and must be board certified or board eligible in nephrology.
