Transplant Education and Training

As one of the busiest clinical transplant centers in the country, the Penn Transplant Institute at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania provides exceptional comprehensive care for both transplant recipients and living donors. This allows us to offer outstanding fellowship opportunities for physicians interested in becoming leaders in the field of transplantation.

In addition to fellowship training for physicians in surgery and medicine, there are educational opportunities for those pursing advanced practice provider specialization in nursing and for physician assistants. Our collaborative partners in pharmacy, social work, and nutrition offer a number of training opportunities as well.

  • Penn Medicine participates in the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) transplant fellowship match. The kidney, pancreas and liver training programs are accredited by the ASTS. We have a long history of training well-rounded transplant surgeons, with exposure to kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation as well as a busy pediatric program at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
