Dr. Rebecca Trotta is the Director of Nursing Research and Innovation and the Director of the Geriatric Nursing Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). In 2020, Dr. Trotta was named the Executive Director of the newly established Abramson Family Center for Nursing Excellence. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Dr. Trotta provides leadership for advancing nursing research and inquiry. She also supports the translation of evidence into practice by applying rigorous scientific principles to various methodologies of inquiry. Dr. Trotta established the role of the Geriatric Nurse Consultants and the Student Geriatric Associates to support interprofessional teams in prevention of geriatric syndromes and promotion of optimal outcomes for older adults at HUP. Dr. Trotta received her bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and a certificate in Implementation Science from the University of California San Francisco. Prior to her current role, Rebecca practiced in primary care and long-term care as a geriatric nurse practitioner.
